Phoenix Nascar in November

I took a little weekend trip for a 3-day weekend vacation. Nascar was in town, so I took a trip down to Phoenix international raceway. It is not my first time there, but maybe my last for a while. Nascar in November is great because you get all three races in the weekend. They threw in a bonus ARCA race. I love going to see the truck races at night. This was the first year that they had an Xfinity Race at night. The weekend was capped off with a Nascar race on Sunday. The weather was a lukewarm 80 degrees during the day with the low in the high 60s. I found this delightful as when I left the high for the day was in the 60s.

I purchased the pit passes which gave a new level of access to the teams and drivers. I have had cold pass access to the garages before however, I think this tops that. We got right up next to the cars. I went down on Friday and Saturday when they were doing the practice runs so you could see the drivers and get an autograph if you got lucky. I had just missed both Kevin Harvick and Kyle Bush. I know I know... but let's be honest the kid can drive. They brought the cars from inspection right down in the middle of the bar they had down in the pits.

Phoenix international raceway has to be one of my favorite tracks. Not just because it is close but the views are great. Some of the pre-races sponsors don't come to the race anymore so there is not a lot to do before the race except tailgate. I'm ok with that. Friday and Saturday races are never really packed but Sunday it becomes standing room only. Good thing they have the new infield. They always have great concerts at the track, this year we got Derks Bentley. That was a great show. If you get a chance to go to Phoenix international raceway I say do it! it's a great little vacation. Take some advice if you go sit in turn four or close to the start-finish line. Mostly to stay in the shade during the Sunday race. That sun will beat down on you.
